Billy Rose - As a little girl she had rheumatic fever, might have scared her heart.

She was an excellent sewer and made extra money sewing. She loved gardening. As a young farm wife she helped milked cows even when pregnant. She loved to make wine and would make wine out of rhubarb, choke cherries and dandelions. The kids picked dandelions for her. :-)

Margaret had no middle name. The family was poor, during the depression the govt. supplied packages of food. Land was barren, a strong memory of Billy Rose was lots of grasshoppers eating the crops and thistles blowing across the ground. Big balls of tumble weeds, just rolled across the barren land. This was a very vivid and sad time for the family. Depression era.

Mom and Dad owned a car, they purchased from a soldier going off to war. They called it the "Klunk"...LOL. It was a 4 door, brown in color. They also had a couple of old model A's and T's growing up. The kids always rode in it, "hanging" out the rumble seat, stacked in the car anyway they would fit.

All of fathers brothers lived near the farm in Mooreton and helped each other, especially during threshing. They shared a thresher, it was a big deal to see it coming to our farm. It was an exciting time to see because it was "our" turn to gather the wheat.

Bev. comments - Grandma loved to dance and play the accordion. The only child born in a hospital was William Jr. and he was always called Jr. Nobody called him William.

Individual Note:
Billy Rose, was closest in age to the boys. Lucille picked out Billy Roses name, Isabelle, but she was never called Isabelle, it was always Billy Rose.

For fun, the brothers and sisters used to go and catch (snare) gophers and the boys would try to drown them by pouring water in the holes. They would run every where. It took a long time to catch a gopher, but was lots of fun. Billy would laugh as she told this story......

Billy Rose was in a serious car accident as a young lady (about 23 yrs old). She was on the way to Sheyenne, ND. The accident was at Carrington ND. Billy Rose was thrown from the vehicle and through the roof of the car. She was riding in the middle of the front seat. She hit her head and it caused her to have some sleep disorders. She was hospitalized at the time in Carrington, until she was well enough to go home.

She went to High School in Whapaten, then went to college for a year at Whapaten at the State School of Science to study secretarial skills. She wishes she would have stayed in college, she enjoyed school. After he first year she was offered a job in Fargo ND as a secretary at North Western equipment, a large farm equipment dealer there. She worked there for 5 yrs. and met Lester at a dance in Fargo.

She also worked as the secretary for the City Manager in Albert Lea in the 1960's.

Lester purchased the plane while married to Billy Rose.

Married four times, she had three children. She divorced Jack 1962.
